This large, three-story brick building was built by William F. Hill in 1914 at a cost of $40,000. Its dining room was one of the community's favorite restaurants. More recently, the second floor has been remodeled for offices, and the third floor is vacant.

Now a law office, this Colonial Revival home was built in 1922. Long-time Bartowans enjoy telling the story of the city's effort years ago to chop down the oak tree which grows in the edge of the street on the south side of the house. Mrs. McLeod reported to have sat beneath the tree with a shotgun in her lap, promising to use it on the first person to touch an axe to the tree. No one was willing to test her resolve - the tree remains to this day.

Bartow Elementary Academy, a magnet school which originally was Bartow Elementary School, is one of the oldest school buildings still in use in Polk County. Construction was begun in 1916. Eight years later, the auditorium east of the school was built by the city on land provided by the school board. It serves both the school and the community. In 1929, additional classrooms were built, joining the school with the auditorium. The building was extensively remodeled in 1977-78.
