One historic preservationist has called this the most architecturally significant house in Bartow. Built in 1895, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Benjamin Holland's son, Spessard L. Holland, became Governor of Florida and a United States Senator.
Thomas Lee Wilson Residence

555 East Stanford Street

This 2 1/2-story wood frame residence was built in 1908. The original owner's name is embossed in the carriage step in front of the house. The house was converted into a funeral parlor for the filming of "My Girl," starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Dan Aykroyd and McCauley Culkin, and has been featured in several television commercials. In 1995 it was opened to guests as The Stanford Inn, a bed and breakfast.

These two apartment buildings were built around 1925. Both feature Mediterranean Revival styling, of which the picturesque roof tiles are typical.
First Christian Church

Built in 1925, this Mediterranean Revival style church replaced one which was built in 1896.

This two-story Frame Vernacular home, with its gable roof and clapboard exterior walls, was built around 1924.

This Frame Vernacular home was built around 1900, and is typical of turn-of-the-century construction. Such homes often were built by lay or self-taught builders.

Built around the turn of the century, this Frame Vernacular residence has a pressed metal shingle roof.
665 South Wilson Avenue 28 ... 665 South Wilson Avenue
This two-story wood frame residence was built around 1910. Its Colonial Revival style was dominant in American architecture in the first half of the 20th Century.

This Mediterranean Revival style residence was built around 1925. The style is found most frequently in states which have a Spanish colonial heritage.
Conant Residence 30 ... Conant Residence
1010 South Broadway Avenue

This large two-story Colonial Revival style frame residence is across the street from a smaller residence which was the home of United States Sen. Spessard L. Holland. Senator Holland enjoyed telling friends that when people came to Bartow to visit him, they often went to this house by mistake, assuming it was one in which a Senator would live.
