This unique residence was built in 1925 by Conrad Schuck, who was told by his doctor in Pittsburgh that he had only a short time to live. Shuck moved to Florida, began work on the project, and - defying the doctor's prediction - continued to add to the house through the 1940s. It featured a natural air conditioning system which used rainwater; outdoor bathtubs on secluded porches; and a system of mirrors which allowed residents to see who was at the front door from any number of locations. It was the topic of a Ripley's "Believe It or Not" cartoon.
