Polk County, the center of Florida's industrial belt, is within 500 miles of 40 major metro markets; it provides available transportation to all areas in the state and beyond. The transportation picture is complete with highways, rail, airports, and deep water ports nearby. As the County seat of Polk County, Bartow is a major crossroads for U.S. Highways 17, 98, and Highway 60.

The Bartow Municipal Airport & Industrial Park provides local services. The Municipal Airport is a former U.S. Air Force Base and a controlled field. It has in excess of 250,000 square feet of aircraft ramp area. Two east-west runways and one northeast-southwest runway are active. These runways are 150 feet wide and 5,000 feet long. Airport services included a fixed base operator, aircraft rental, aviation fuel and maintenance, flight instruction and avionics. An industrial park of 88 buildings is located on airport property. A railroad spur into the complex services several of the tenants in the industrial park.

Aviation...Tampa International Airport, 48 miles west, has the nearest commercial air service. Most major airlines provide service from Tampa. Orlando International Airport is approximately 60 minutes on a 4-lane highway from Bartow.

The Bartow Shuttle...Getting around in Bartow has never been easier! With twenty-seven stops located throughout the city, the Bartow Shuttle can get you to the doctor, the grocery store, or just about anywhere you need to be, anytime between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. All fares for the Bartow Shuttle are just a dollar or less. The Bartow Shuttle is part of the Polk County InterCity Transit System.

Truck Lines...Approximately 30 trucking firms are serving the area. A number of firms specialize in bulk hauling of mineral and chemicals for the phosphate industry. All major package pickup and delivery services including: Emery, Federal Express and United Parcel Service (UPS). Principal routes used for motor freight are U.S. Highways 17, 98, State Highway 60 and Interstate 4.

Railroads...The CSX Railroad provides service. Thirteen miles to the northwest is the marshalling yard for freight. Carload shipments reach Atlanta in two days, Chicago and New York in four days.

Ports...Tampa, 38 miles west, has the nearest deep water port facilities. Channel depth is maintained at 43 feet and channel width is 400-600 feet. Both barge and ocean going lines service the port.
